Dividing assets and debts. “What steps should I take to implement the divorce decree?”

A divorce degree is a formal legal document that specifies the outcome of a divorce proceeding. It is essentially a court order specifying how marital assets are to be divided and any on-going obligations of the formerly married couple. The requirements of the decree are legally binding on the former spouses and, as such, require that actions be taken to ensure that the each party adheres to the order.
